LIAM NEESON GIVES OUR CONCERT FOR SIMON COMMUNITY HIS PERSONAL OSCAR!!!

LIAM NEESON GIVES OUR CONCERT FOR SIMON COMMUNITY HIS PERSONAL OSCAR!!!

Firstly a huge congratulations to our fabulous children for their two sell-out performances of 'A Home For Christmas,' which raised a wonderful £950, a tub of practical gifts and a bucketload of compassion for our local homeless, though supporting the work of Coleraine SIMON COMMUNITY.  Their representative Geraldine, who attended the evening event, said she had never before seen a show like it and was thrilled with the social awareness demonstrated by the children using their gifts and talents in this way.  We also give a big thank you to all parents and friends who donated and gave us such overwhelming support with our concept. We at Portrush Primary School are indeed privileged to be able to share the Christmas message of love in such a practical way to help those in need - and we had great fun at the same time!

Secondly, we believe in reaching for the stars - literally - and thus recently an email was sent to the agent of Mr Liam Neeson, well known to us all for his own amazing film performances in the Arts world yet also more quietly known as an ambassador for the plight of the homeless.Well today, amazingly, we have had the sweetest reply from Liam himself; which hopefully will copy and paste below...

Dear Karen- I'm sorry that I wasn't able to send you this message before your school's two performances, which, I believe, finished last night.
I do hope they went more than well and that your primary school children performed with energy and excitement and that your audiences were appreciative. How terrific youse are helping your local Simon community through those school shows. Homelessness is a tragedy and many people find themselves on the streets for various reasons. The real tragedy is that most times we walk past these people as if they didn't exist and generally don't give them a moments thought. By highlighting their plight you and your wonderful children are helping to restore their dignity and self worth, no matter how small that gesture may be.
Many congratulations and I hope you carry on this Christmas tradition every year.
Thankyou for reaching out and sharing. You and your primary school definitely get the'Oscar' from me!
Happy and healthy C'mas and new year.
Warmest regards Liam Neeson
