National Trust Visit P4

28th Sep 2017

Primary 4 really have been busy bees since the start of our new school year. They invited staff from the National Trust to come to visit the school grounds where Lisa and Carla delivered a programme called Bugs and Birds. The children had a chance to get their hands dirty scavenging for different bugs and found many different types of mini beasts including centipedes, wood louse and worms. They also managed to spot some of the most common garden birds. During our first Outdoor Classroom Day of the year P4 also carried out a hedgerow hunt for a variety of plants finding many types of deciduous and evergreen trees as well as fungi and different berry bushes. Everyone had a great time fact finding and exploring the school grounds using the special equipment provided by the National Trust and they are pleased to know many animals and bugs can find shelter and food in our rich environment during the colder season ahead.
